Here at the Stroom we constantly strive for excellence. But why take our word for it?

Here's a taste of what two of the region's respected food critics had to say after paying us a visit:

" The Stroom is the kind of place that makes trekking into an urban centre for something nice to eat a waste of time if you don’t actually live there. It’s not flash, it’s not brash; instead, it’s a comfortable watering hole that makes you want to book a return visit as soon as possible.."

" Among the main courses is belly pork, which butchers give away and which chefs routinely mess up.This one is memorable for its intensity of flavour, crisp crackling and soft, sweet meat.
I suspect Monsieur Guitton had a hand in the duck leg confit with bubble and squeak and Saumur wine sauce. Some duck confits taste as though they have been boiled for a week rather than gently roasted in duck fat. This was fresh and lovely. The vegetables had similar qualities. The sautéed potatoes looked deep-, rather than pan-fried, but only the stuffiest purist would disdain them. And all of this gear was thrown onto the table by some glum, mumbling teenager aching to get home to watch telly? Quite the reverse."

" The food was excellent. Chef amazing, by far the best meal ever, and that is saying something!"

"It was our anniversary when we came, the staff found out and made our evening special by congratulating us and presenting us with a decorated plate with chocolates – much appreciated."

"We always look forward to coming to the stroom. We have lovely memories from each visit because the place,
food and service is TIP TOP!"

"I agree with the previous reviewer. We also live in Pudsey and The Stroom is most definitely a fantastic addition to the area, although I would certainly travel to get there. The food is of such a high quality and the staff are very helpful. My husband and I have gone so far as to say that we never enjoy anywhere else now in quite the same way."

"Ate here last month and would wholeheartedly recommend going here. We didn't book but arrived early and only just got a table. The food, service and ambience were second to none. It is certainly worth trying - we will be going again."

"Having discovered this place as a result of a recommendation here, and having become regular visitors as a result, we thought we had better add our comments! There are insufficient superlatives for the food. The menu is short, but each dish (and we have tried most) is prepared and presented to perfection and there is enough range to suit all tastes. The service is superb, and the owners are willing to do everything they can to accommodate any requests (such as when I asked them to have a rose there for me to give to my wife). The ambience is very pleasant - warm and friendly. We like dressing up a bit for a meal out of this quality. Most of their customers don't. The result is that however you dress, you won't feel out of place!"

"I've eaten at Stroom a number of times and each time I have been thrilled by the quality of the food and the attentive service. Although the restaurant is often busy, there is plenty of space and you never feel like you've been crammed in. I have thoroughly enjoyed the roast belly pork and the chocolate timbale is worth the trip alone. Go - go now - I have yet to find a better restaurant in Leeds."

"Absolutely one of the best restaurants, just on the outskirts of Leeds, Certainly my favorite, for the simple reason that on every occasion I have dined here, the whole experience has been superb and completely faultless. Very much cosmopolitan in style, the food is sublime, and the service impeccable. In fact, the waiting staff, most of whom are generally quite young, are not only a credit to the restaurant, but also to their generation - one which is sadly so often out of its depth in this field. I would definitely recommend the it if you are like me an avid wine lover as there wins and drinks list hold some of the best wines available in the world. I am confident you will not be disappointed. Some people may feel the menu is lacking slightly with only 10 or so main courses but they are all freshly prepared and changed every month, which is what I would prefer any way, but this is one restaurant where you certainly get more than you pay for, and represents outstanding value for money. Remember to book early"

"What can I say, faultless? Amazingly tasty food presented like artwork! Do not be fooled by the bland names on the menu. Friendly helpful staff, with good knowledge of the food and drink that they have to offer. Good list of wines. Great décor with good ambience. Recommend paying a visit to the bedroom down stairs. Would recommend to anyone go there, I can't wait to go again."
